Business portraits in Manchester for Sportswear Design Studio

Helen Welch, from Manchester based Sportswear Design Studio approached me to shoot some images of her and her business partner, Kate Allaway. They are launching their new website soon.

Kate and Helen are both freelance designers specialising in active, leisure market. They have extensive knowledge and have worked for Reebok, Ellesse, JD Sports, Regetta, SweatyBetty, as well as smaller niche labels such as Every Second Counts, which was founded by ex magazine Fashion Director Sally Dixon. Together with Asquith, who combine a love of fabrics and design with a passion for yoga and Pilates to create high quality, eco-friendly activewear for women.

Helen and Kate are combining their talents and offering a comprehensive service to support established brands or new start-ups with a custom made package. This could include brand strategy or market research, design through to development, whatever they need help with.

We met in Manchester’s Norther Quarter at Ply. PLY is a bright new bar, restaurant and creative space in Manchester’s Northern Quarter. They serve sourdough pizza from their wood-fired, mirror-tiled, clay oven – with fine wines, craft beers and cocktails. They have a carefully curated programme of exhibitions and events by artists from all over the world, alongside their doodle wall, book exchange and an online shop which is coming soon. We then moved outside to use some of the local street art and surrounding roads and streets for pictures.
